The start of the Tour of California

We are in San Francisco for the start of the Tour of California. We’ve been up here since Friday in preparation for what Medalist Sports (the promoters) are calling the Super Bowl of American cycling. I think few could argue with that title.

Last night Al, Tim and I were invited to the Dinner of Champions, a VIP dinner for all the high dollar sponsors of USA Cycling, as well as the members of the U-23 squad. The reason we were invited is that I am going to be doing a piece on team member John Devine. I’ll be following him throughout the tour and giving a behind the scenes look at this talented rider as he completes each stage. As you may know, in July John joins Discovery Channel, but for now he is wearing the kit of the National Team. Check www.roadmagazine.net for other updates as I know Tim will be blogging as well.

If you see us on the course please stop us and say hi and let us know what you think of the race. Who knows, you might make it into ROAD.
