Ikeman Cycling, LLC., owner of the Yahoo! Cycling Team today announced the addition of Pat McCarty to its roster for the Redlands Bicycle Classic and the Sea Otter Classic in April. Team owner Kevin Klein said “We are excited to have a rider like Pat join us for our NRC opener and at the Sea Otter Classic. We are looking to Pat to bolster our stage racing team with his climbing prowess and knowledge of the bigger races.”
Pat McCarty has been given a release from his current sponsor, Matrix/RBM in order to race with the Yahoo! Cycling Team for these two events. McCarty has enjoyed a great career most recently riding for the Ouch presented by Maxxis squad in 2009 and has spent the previous two seasons with the American Professional Continental team Garmin-Chipotle. His resumé also includes racing with US Postal in its final year, following Lance Armstrong on to start the Discovery Channel team. He was with Phonak in 2006 where he finished the Giro d’Italia.
“This is a great opportunity to join forces with the Yahoo! Cycling Team,” says McCarty. “They have a nice mix of talent and they are a new team on the rise. I think I can add a great dynamic with my experience, particularly helping out the younger racers. I’m hoping it will be a success!”
Pat McCarty is one fucking cool dude!
