This past Wednesday the GS élan team kicked off their weekly women only training ride from the Ride On bike shop in Greenville, South Carolina. The genesis of the GS élan Wednesday evening ride came from fulfilling a need in the cycling community.
“We recognized there was a large population of women that wanted to ride their bikes and felt comfortable with a group of women,” explained Greenville Spinners president Duke Spinelli.
The ride rolls out from the parking lot of the Ride On bike shop in Greenville at 6:15 PM. There is an additional ride on Thursdays starting at 6:00 PM at Furman University lead by the Greenville Women’s Cycling Team. If you’re looking for a Saturday ride starting August 7th there is a GS élan sponsored ride rolling out of Carolina Tri and lead by the Donne Pedala Cycling Team. Details for this ride will be added soon.
If you’re a woman looking to start cycling in a friendly supportive atmosphere there is no better time than now. With a women only, no-drop ride on Wednesday and Thursday followed by a Saturday ride there are plenty of opportunities to get out on the bike, learn more about cycling and enjoy the sense of camaraderie that cycling celebrates.
