First Annual Eurand CF Cycle For Life

The South Carolina Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will proudly host its first annual bike tour in an effort to raise funds to help find a cure for the disease. The event, the Eurand CF Cycle For Life: Wheels in Motion to Cure Cystic Fibrosis, will be held October 2 with a starting location at Pendleton Street Baptist Church. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the tour will kick-off at 9:00 a.m.
Participating cyclists will have a choice between two mileage routes of either 35 or 65 miles, both of which travel through beautiful Upstate terrain. Those interested in riding can register now ($35.00) on the event web page (http://sc.cff.org/cycleforlife) or in person ($45.00) the morning of the race. There is also a $165 fundraising requirement to ride and can be done up to a month after the event. All money raised will go towards vital research for a cure, as well as therapies for those affected by cystic fibrosis.
Sara Neece, the Associate Executive Director of the South Carolina Chapter and the event’s staff liaison, said: “The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is very excited about the Eurand CF Cycle for Life coming to the Greenville area. With over 50 families in the Upstate area affected by cystic fibrosis, to give them this opportunity to have others in their community support them is a priceless gift. We hope to establish this tour as an annual event in Greenville and increase our chances of finding a cure and/or a control for the disease.”
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Since 1955, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been the driving force behind the pursuit of a cure. Thanks to the dedication and financial backing of wonderful supporters–patients, families and friends, clinicians, researchers, volunteers, individual donors, corporations and staff– the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is making a difference and look forward to the day when CF will stand for Cure Found.
