Want to ride with BMC’s George Hincapie and contribute to a good cause? November 14th George Hincapie will be the featured rider in a charity event in support of Carolina Triathlon bike mechanic Mark Knight.
This past March Mark was diagnosed with stomach cancer. The tumor had grown in his stomach to the size of a football. He was able to have surgery to remove the tumor and is now receiving chemotherapy. However the bills are adding up and he has been unable to return to full time work. In support of Mark, George Hincapie will be leading a ride.
“Mark has been a friend of mine for a long time. He’s going through a rough time right now and I’m glad to help him out when I can,” said George.
To participate a $20 donation is asked. There are two ride options: 50 and 34 miles. The ride will roll out of the Hincapie office and head toward North Greenville College, up and over Callahan Mountain, down Camp Old Indian and back towards town. For those doing the 34 mile option the turn around point is the end of Tigerville Road. Sag support will be provided.
The ride starts at 9:00AM and be prepared to hang out as there will be post-ride food from Carolina Triathlon and Thomas Creek Brewery supplying refreshments. Don’t forget to bring your checkbook for the silent auction. If you can’t make it to the event consider donating on-line at go-greenevents.
