After covering the Assault on Mt Mitchell, Browne Eye Media hopped on a plane and winged it across country to cover the Amgen Tour of California. By the time I had boots on the ground it was stage 4 (or maybe stage 3?). I set-up in the press room not sure of how I would be received as days earlier it had been pointed out that I was the reason the sport was in decline.
To my surprise several journalists spoke to me and were even nice referencing my open apology as touching and heartfelt.
After some exciting racing RadioShack’s Chris Horner proved to be the strongest on Sierra Road soloing to both the stage victory and taking the overall general classification. Can he hold through the final stage in Thousand Oaks is the question? At this point I don’t see why not.
Other than the racing I saw people that I’d only met via the Internet and it was nice to put a face to a name. I’m hoping that I stumble across other folks from the World Wide Web.
